BOP Custody Is a Federal Sentence Trail
No active BOP prison was identified in Newton County. The federal page represents a nationwide custody system, not a local detention building. Use it when a person was sentenced in federal court and committed to the Bureau.

Read BOP Release Results Carefully
A result with a past release date and the status RELEASED, with no institution listed, indicates the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not prove that every legal restraint ended.

Federal supervised release is imposed through the federal court and administered through the federal probation system. It is not Missouri parole and will not be verified through a Newton County probation office.

USMS Pretrial Placement Is Different
The U.S. Marshals Service prisoner program manages federal detainees before and during court proceedings and may house them in contract facilities. It does not offer a general public real-time locator equivalent to BOP’s search. Physical facility and legal custodian can therefore be different.
For a federal pretrial departure from a Newton County or nearby jail, check the federal docket as authorized and use the relevant Marshals or holding-agency inquiry path. Only after federal sentencing, delivery, and designation does BOP become the expected locator.
A local release sheet should identify the receiving agency when the jail movement was a pickup or transfer. Without that destination field, disappearance from local custody cannot distinguish community release from federal transport.

The federal docket answers a different question. It can identify the judgment, sentence, later orders, and the term of supervised release. It will not necessarily show each physical transfer or the time a facility processed departure. Pair docket authority with the custody record.
When a release date changes between checks, preserve both capture dates before seeking an explanation. A revised BOP calculation does not alter the earlier Newton County movement event, and a local transfer date does not override the Bureau’s sentence computation. Each date belongs to its own agency and stage.
Separate Federal and Missouri Custody

Do not merge the dates into a single “release.” Label each event by agency and custody episode.
Trace a Federal Newton County Departure
